ALS Fighters, P.S. 132, Brooklyn

TO HONOR SINDY WEINER AND SUPPORT THE JOAN DANCY AND PALS FOUNDATION, AN EXEMPLARY GROUP OF STUDENTS, THE ALS FIGHTERS FROM P.S. 132 IN BROOKLYN, HELD A BAKE SALE.

12/19/16

Dear Ms. Joan Dancy and PALS,

We are the ALS Fighters. We are a small group of 5th grade students from P.S. 132 in Brooklyn working to support ALS researchers and, hopefully, find the cure.

Our group started when we learned that a man by the name of Louis Weiner was going to read to us for our annual “Read Across America Day”. This is a special day at our school. Guest readers come into the school and read an assigned class a book. Mr. Weiner read “Magenta Purple: The New American Idle” from the “Magenta Purple” series that was written by his wife Sindy Weiner, who suffers from ALS. We were shocked when we heard how fast ALS takes over a victim and how utterly helpless humankind is to stop it. We made a list of everything we could dots raise money for the cause. “Bake Sale” was on that list, the most probable and effective fundraiser for elementary school level philanthropy.

After many days of planning, the bake sale was held on December 1. We were determined to raise at least $1,000.00. We ended raising $1,300.00 which is being sent to you in the form of a check. The purpose of our bake sale was to raise money to support the Joan Dancy and PALS Foundation. Please accept this donation to benefit Sinderella’s Ball. Thank you for taking your time to read this letter.

Sincerely,
ALS Fighters
